The pressure, torture and trouble of Pagans over Muslims started increasing day by day. Muslims were facing a circumstance in which they could not worship comfortably.
A safe place was needed to worship and to learn Islam and the teaching of the Faith. The Prophet’s ﷺ companions gathered in the house of Arqam bin Abil Arqam bin Asad and who belonged to Makhzum clan of the Quraysh tribe. He was one of the first Muslims and his house was located in a narrow street in the east of the hill ‘’Safa’’. That house was suitable for entering and going out secretly and for controlling the street.
Prophet ﷺ was the teacher and the first of the Muslims were all students there. They informed the other Muslims about what they had learned there within possibilities. In this sense, we can regard Arqam’s house as the first Islamic school.
